ABSTRACT
This chapter explains how to go about preparing to find work in magazines. As a career, journalism has no formal minimum qualification but in practice most new recruits now have a degree although not necessarily in journalism. Higher and further education institutions provide training as well as some independent companies. Accrediting bodies can provide some guidance about training. Magazine journalism is a highly competitive field and like many careers makes widespread use of a system of internships that are unpaid.
