Negotiating violence in contexts of poverty in South Africa

This chapter shares the personal experiences of poverty for black disabled South African women who were involved in a participatory action research project over a period of nearly 3 years. Their narratives uncover the barriers faced, and strategies employed, to manage the transition from becoming disabled to being agents of their own development, and their everyday experiences of human poverties and disability.
