ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview and discussion of elder abuse and neglect. The issues and developments that have occurred are explored. Some of the pertinent issues in relation to older people in general are considered, and older disabled people in particular. Government and public responses to the problem of the abuse of vulnerable older people and those with disabilities are examined with a particular focus on the situation in the UK. A range of issues in relation to interventions are raised and some possible future developments are considered.
