[Abstract: While English uses the same Roman alphabet as many other languages, the names given to the letters may differ between languages. These names are usually spoken rather than spelled. They are often taught in early childhood education, using The ABC Song. However, many children confuse the name of the letter (e.g. a /eɪ/) with the sound(s) that the letter typically makes (/æ/), leading to misspellings (e.g. ski for sky).]
