ABSTRACT

[Abstract: Because many existing books in the market contain classroom exercises for teaching English spelling, this book does not provide ready-to-use classroom exercises, although many of the end-of-chapter exercises can easily be adapted for this purpose. Instead, this chapter details a sequence for introducing the features of English spelling, and emphasizes the potential of two common ELT classroom activities for introducing and practicing spelling. Firstly, vocabulary exercises introduce new vocabulary items, not only their meaning, grammar and pronunciation, but also their spelling. Secondly, word games of various types can give practice of spelling in a fun way.]
