ABSTRACT

[abstract: This article examines the role of Montessori education as an exemplar of holism in four specific aspects; the focus upon the whole child, the emphasis on structuring educational experiences from whole to parts, the technique of involving the learners as the thing being studied rather than simply studying about the thing, and the Montessori view of the universality of the child. This article includes an introduction to relevant information about Montessori education and how common practices in Montessori education exemplify the four identified aspects.]
