ABSTRACT

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an outlook referring to the contributions that companies need to make toward the development of a modern society. As the states and international institutions became aware of adopting the CSR principles by companies and the sustainable development objectives, there also came the need for international standards to define a desirable corporate behavior. Many international organizations have contributed globally to the CSR development. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) principles of social responsibility follows: Shareholders' rights, impartial treatment of all shareholders, Disclosure and transparency of information and exchanges, Responsibilities of the company's board and Interested Parties' Role in promoting social responsibility. A special attention is given to the CSR within small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), along with the implementation of the Pan-European Campaign of Awareness of CSR by SMEs, including numerous events across the entire Europe and the foundation of an informative website.
