ABSTRACT

Textures in Blender are the physical characteristics of a surface such as the grainy surface of bricks, the fibrous pile of carpet, wood grain, etc. In Blender, the surface characteristics are created by mapping Data or Images on to the surface of a model in the 3D window. Textures are applied to an object's surface using the Properties window, Textures buttons. By default, Blender Textures are set to influence the Material. Texture mapping places data or an image on the surface of an object to create surface characteristics. On a flat surface it is like sticking a 2D picture on the surface. Moving the Displacement slider vanes the amount of displacement. The Blend menu displays options that influence the material by blending the Material color and the Texture color. Textures may be used to displace the surface of an object creating interesting effects. UV mapping is accomplished by taking the surface of an Object.
