ABSTRACT

Jay Greenberg, co-author with Stephen Mitchell of the classic (1983) Object Relations in Psychoanalytic Theory, is one of the originators of contemporary relational psychoanalysis. This interview, conducted by Lewis Aron, a central contributor to the field, explores Greenberg’s collaboration with Mitchell; the differences between the two founders; his early contributions to relational thought and practice; his efforts to offer appreciative critique of the relational approach; and his current views on the development of relational theory and contemporary psychoanalysis.
