ABSTRACT
Surgical removal of pancreatic calculi was reported by Gould and Moynihan, and a gynaecologist from Indiana, Goethe Link, reported creating an external pancreatic fistula in 1911 to achieve long-term relief of pain in a blocked duct – a proof of principle for later operations.
