ABSTRACT

The focus of this chapter is the assessment and evaluation of literacy teaching and learning. The chapter begins by defining assessment, evaluation and monitoring and then examines the assessment of student performance and the evaluation of pedagogy, practice and planning. The Reflection Strategies, Auditing Instruments and Theory into Practice tasks that have been outlined throughout Foundations of Multiliteracies: Reading, Writing and Talking in a Digital Age are revisited to explore how these tasks relate to assessment and evaluation.
