ABSTRACT

For many people, gardens, plants and food form an inseparable trio. They garden, in part at least, in order to grow vegetables or harvest vegetables, fruit and nuts for the purpose of eating them. This chapter reflects on this trio and its relevance to the good life, and it does so in the context of the emergence in recent years of ‘plant ethics’.
