ABSTRACT
The goal of this chapter is to help the reader to become familiar with MATLAB®. Advanced MATLAB users may skip this tutorial, while the rest are encouraged to begin at a point wherever they feel comfortable. Programming concepts and methods by MATLAB are introduced, including operations and assignment of variables, numerical expressions, handling vectors and matrices, symbolic operations, loops, M-files, functions, and graphics. Special emphasis is given to the solution of ordinary differential equations by MATLAB because many chemical engineering problems involve ordinary differential equations.
