ABSTRACT

This exercise is rather like asking the participant to be in a fairy story for a while, where they can experience an ideal partner, mother, father, friend and so on. It may help the participant to appreciate the characteristics these people in their life actually have or had and the characteristics they don’t or didn’t have. This may at some point motivate the participant to seek in others what they are not getting from the actual people in their life, such as ways of relating that enhance quality of life and increase self-esteem. Perhaps, for example, the participant wants to be far more explorative and dare to start an social enterprise, but all the people in her life are saying that it won’t work.
