ABSTRACT

The objective of this exercise is to focus on participants’ feelings about the people in their life whom they experience as too demanding, too intrusive, too hurtful, too abusive, too abrasive, even too annoying or just sap them of positive energy for some reason. The exercise can also be used to consider avoidant or withdrawal ways of being in the world, where, for example, the participant may be ‘keeping out’ benevolent, supportive and nurturing people ( just because say they express their own needs from time to time) along with the ones whom they feel bring them negative energy, in which case the participant ends up feeling emotionally undernourished and often alone.
