ABSTRACT

The chapter highlights women’s agency in the Norwegian Snowboard Federation with particular attention to two different groups/projects. The first group, PowderPuffGirls, aimed at promoting snowboarding for girls and women in general, and inside the federation. Their efforts were directed toward education of female instructors, facilitating women only camps, and to increase the proportion of women in leadership positions. The second group, Girls on Board, focuses more on competitive snowboarding and filling the gap between recreational and elite snowboarding. From a doing/undoing perspective, the chapter discusses variations in the two groups’ orientation and agency.
