ABSTRACT

This chapter examines different ways to achieve healthy ageing in Asia. It shows that healthy ageing can be achieved through maintaining and improving physical wellness, social wellness, and financial wellness of older adults, creating dementia-friendly communities (DFCs) and adopting new care models. Achieving healthy ageing requires strong and committed leadership, engagement from diverse sectors, the adoption of a positive view of ageing, and a rights-based approach which informs, engages, and consults older adults when formulating and developing policies that affect them. It is expected that healthy ageing will help build more inclusive, cohesive, and resilient societies in Asia.
