ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how there are several challenges for arsenic mitigation in Bangladesh, which include (a) the lack of adequate coordination among stakeholders; (b) the lack of research regarding arsenic poisoning, mitigation options, and safe water technologies suitable for Bangladesh; (c) the lack of knowledge and experience about arsenic mitigation of stakeholders; and (d) incompetent arsenic mitigation policy. Many organizations are campaigning repeatedly and frequently about arsenic awareness and about drinking safe water through media, but the public do not give any credence to this awareness program since most of the people are more worried about their poor economic status. On the other hand, a group of people is aware of arsenic and its toxicity. Moreover, some people are changing their water-use habits and are drinking safe water from deep tubewells.
