ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the development and integration of the antilock braking system/electronic stability program (ABS/ESP) system. The synthesis of a complex digital control system such as ABS/ESP needs a huge effort of writing proper mathematical models and then simplifying them to run in real time. The system will be modeled using Simcenter Amesim software, and validated by using sets of experimental data. However, optimizing the whole system can be problematic and the only approach is the development of mathematical models for each component and use of numerical methods for optimizing the system structure and the control algorithm. These models should be able to extrapolate the behavior of the system as a whole. The chapter aims to present the development and test of road vehicles' hydraulic and pneumatic systems. It also focuses on physical modeling, numerical methods, and computer science and programming.
