ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, and experimental identification of the last generation of both mechanical and electrical feedback electrohydraulic servovalves. Servovalves are complex devices and therefore a mathematical model for them is going to be complex and extremely difficult to integrate in order to conduct a numerical simulation. The chapter discusses various aspects of the design of new servovalves, and the way of obtaining the best static and dynamic performances. It aims to evaluate the real improvements that can be gained by an extra feedback loop using the modeling and simulation environment Amesim. The chapter describes the implementation of a simplified method for obtaining the transfer function of the electrohydraulic (proportional) servovalves, which contains a position transducer attached to the spool. The methods used to carry the test necessary for the dynamic identification are in compliance with the international standards regarding the testing of the four-way proportional valves.
