ABSTRACT

With the rapid development of computer technology, the use of computer simulation of wireless communication systems becomes possible. Now, computer simulation in the performance evaluation of wireless communication systems becomes more and more important. To evaluate the performance of wireless network algorithms, more than experimentation is needed, especially for large-scale wireless networks containing large numbers of nodes. To simulate a wireless sensor network, researchers designed and developed many related platforms, including VC++, JAVA, PeerSim, OPNET, OMNET, MATLAB, NS2, and Atarraya. Due to the powerful functions of MATLAB, many researchers use it as a simulation tool for wireless network algorithms. NS2 is a discrete, event-driven, object-oriented simulator for network environment simulation, mainly used for simulation proving of network research. The chapter briefly reviews the details of the algorithm of the LEACH protocol. It also focuses on the installation and implementation of the LEACH algorithm.
