ABSTRACT

The advent of cloud computing and the continuing movement toward software as a service paradigms have posed an increasing need for assured information sharing as a service in the cloud. The Department of Defense has been embracing cloud computing paradigms to more efficiently, economically, flexibly, and scalably meet its vision of "delivering the power of information to ensure mission success through an agile enterprise with the freedom of maneuverability across the information environment". To share the large amounts of data securely and efficiently, there clearly needs to be a seamless integration of the policy and data managers for social media in the cloud. The chapter describes our design and implementation of a cloud-based information-sharing system called cloud-centric assured information sharing system (CAISS) that utilizes several technologies we have developed and open source tools. It develops a proof of concept prototype of both CAISS and a preliminary implementation of CAISS++.
