ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the positive aspects of human interaction with insects when the insects provided some practical use. Examples of these types of interactions include hobbies, entertainment, and other leisure activities in which insects play a key role. Tourism for the main objective of observing wild animals has grown in popularity. Tourists are attracted first of all to big game animals. However, even those tourists coming to look at big game often take interest in insects, too. However, many people consider the idea of keeping insects and other invertebrates as pets fascinating. One of the most diverse hobbies people have is the photography of insects. Children in rural localities often begin to collect insects. In most cases, this interest is forgotten as the person ages, leaving only masses of gaudy wings, fragments of insect legs and bodies, and a few rusty pins. Sometimes imitations of various insects are used for fishing.
