ABSTRACT
Interferometers are optical instruments whose basic performance is the based on the optical phenomenon of interference. They use the wavelength of light as the basic unit of length to take extremely accurate measurements. There are many different types of interferometers whose configuration depends on its application. The main types of interferometers and their uses are described in detail in this chapter.
