ABSTRACT

Patients with sensitive skin should be fully informed on the characteristics of sensitive skin as well as the possible treatment options and therapeutic measures that should be undertaken with patience and tenacity. As the management of sensitive skin is always difficult for both the dermatologist and the patient, the development of a good physician–patient relation is important. To aid screening according to the individual sensitive skin conditions, the treatment algorithm for sensitive skin was developed, which can help in providing a targeted individual treatment plan for each patient. Numerous skin care products are now available especially for sensitive skin; frequently, they are labeled hypoallergenic. The phenomenon of sensitive skin is typically accompanied by high skin reactivity to cosmetics and various environmental factors. In recent years, the number of so-called hypoallergenic or hypersensitive skin care products to soothe and improve various signs of sensitive skin has tremendously increased.
