ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book discovers all of the essential components and steps of a successful behavior intervention plans (BIP). BIPs are sometimes seen only as steps on the path to another goal, such as moving a student into a more restrictive environment. Carefully approaching the initial BIP request can help weed out many complications later in the process. Validation is an important step because in many ways it allows to begin shaping the attitudes of those who will implement the BIP. BIPs with too many focal points become cumbersome and are more likely to be discarded. If a BIP is not written in a fresh and professional manner, the content is quickly discounted. A BIP should only include information necessary for its primary audience; the staff who will implement it.
