ABSTRACT

Given that ACC is an approach that might be unusual to some we need to be conscious about how we communicate about it to potential clients. We favour clear, functional language using words like “effective” and “skilful”. While we need to listen to the specific needs of our clients, there is a general rationale for the benefits and relevance of ACC, focused on the increasing speed and elevated demands of modern life and work. We position ACC as “another tool in the toolbox” to give clients more range, flexibility and choice – one that is based on a model supported by an unprecedented amount of research evidence. Given that ACC is best delivered in a way that is experiential rather than didactic, giving a potential client an ACC-consistent experience is usually better than simply explaining it.
