ABSTRACT

The profession of coaching is relatively new compared to traditions such as psychotherapy. As such, the evidence base for coaching interventions is still relatively small. However, within ACT the evidence base is both broad and deep with applicability to not only clinical areas but also the coaching arena. This chapter provides an update review of the research evidence for coaching in general, ACT and the evidence for the use of ACT in coaching. The research literature provides good support for using ACT for coaching, both in terms of outcomes in areas such as well-being and performance but also in terms of helping to explicate a clear model of change.
