U l s t e r has always been distinguished by the intensity o f its political passions. But taking its politics seriously it has always exhibited greater devotion to principles than to parties o r even to persons. I f Parties o r Party leaders desert their principles, Ulster will the m ore obstinately adhere to them. A rugged independence is in the blood; attem pted dictation from w hatever quarter is certain to evoke determined opposition.
