ABSTRACT
Has Religion anything to do with Democracy? The great majority of our contemporaries are prompt to deny this question. On the continent of Europe there is even felt a contradiction between both powers: democrats are usually secularists, devout people are frequently reactionaries. Nevertheless the names of Lincoln and Gladstone forbid such a conclusion.
