ABSTRACT

No economist would willingly dispute the correctness of the proposition that every economic activity—whether it be carried on within the framework of a natural, a capitalist or a socialist economy—must obey the principle that its results must correspond to the costs expended upon them. Not in vain is this principle deemed to be the essential characteristic of economic activity, distinguishing it from every other form of human activity. Only it is to be presumed that under socialism this principle would assume a peculiar form which is adapted to socialism.
