One February day in 1814 “at the Old Bailey Sessions, 1814 five children were condemned to death—Fowler, age 12, and Wolfe, age 12, for burglary in a dwelling; Morris, age 8, Solomons, age 9, and Burrell, age 11, for burglary and stealing a pair of shoes!” ¹
