ABSTRACT

HAVING dealt with those Acts of Parliament which relate to housing, it remains to consider the broader subject of Town Planning. Previously to the passing of the Housing, Town Planning, etc., Act, 1909, there had not been passed any Act of Parliament in this country that had particular reference to the considered development of a town. As has been already mentioned in a previous chapter, England was not the first country to promote Town Planning legislation. Germany, Sweden and Italy had already done so, and in a way that went much farther than our own Town Planning Act of 1909.
