ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a theme innovation. This is a word that gets a lot of mileage in both the public and the private business community. Two tendencies seen repeatedly are the transition from phasing out to development and the transition from being ready for change to creating change—as a game-changer. The contributors focus on how we turn new ideas into practice and generate results, to name some subjects. It is clear when we read the articles that innovation can vary in extent and impact. It can be a matter of radical and completely new initiatives, but it may as well take the shape of smaller, more limited, local innovations. It is indisputable that innovation must generate value and that this can occur in many ways. Successful innovators know that innovation is about being a game-changer. To act. To try things out. To be curious. To create.
