ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on prostitutes lives following entry into prostitution, and focuses on their working conditions, lifestyles, and concerns. It presents readers with a profile of their life on the job. Hair salons are the simplest operations when compared to the other two off-street sex venues in terms of the way the business is run, the employees involved, the services provided, and the magnitude of investment. Mammies have three sources of income: the first is a management fee and the second is a "chutai" fee earned when the misses go out with customers. The third one is deductions from customers' expenditure on beers, and snacks. The size and scale of nightclubs or karaoke lounges vary significantly. The size of the premises, the construction and layout of interior facilities, the complexities of operating such a business, and the luxurious exterior decoration are all very similar to those of nightclubs/karaoke lounges.
