ABSTRACT
The relationship between law and morality depends on definitions of these concepts. They may be defined so that their spheres are nearly identical, or they may be defined in ways that make them almost totally separate. It is easy to imagine the areas of law and morality as circles that partly cover one another, with the extent of the overlapping dependent on formal and informal norms of each society.
