ABSTRACT

On the eve of the Six Day War, there wasn’t a single officer in the IDF General Staff or land forces who imagined that the Israel Air Force could achieve such a decisive victory over the Arab air forces. Some senior officers believed that victory was achievable on land, even if the Air Force only scored a draw in the skies. Maj.-General Ezer Weizman told the Command and Staff School that the IAF would destroy Arab air forces in six hours – but he was considered mad.
