ABSTRACT

There have been, in recent years, many Marxism conferences and countless workshops from Chicago and Boston to Berlin; the London Marx "festival" lasted five days. Given the severity of the crisis and the slowness of the recovery, the rediscovery of Marxism is not surprising. Indeed, the fact that political reaction has been so mild is more astonishing. The Marx renaissance is concentrated, on the whole, on the United States and Germany. The German city Karl Marx Stadt has again adopted Chemnitz, its old name. However, the local savings bank in Chemnitz has issued a credit card with Marx counterfeit, which proved to be a successful publicity stunt. The renaissance was triggered off by the crisis in the developed countries, which began in 2008. Marx's interest focused on Britain and to a lesser extent on other European countries, which were at the time the capitalist vanguard.
