ABSTRACT
Democide proposition asserts that the more democracy the less democide (genocide and mass murder by a regime). It is a counterpart to the internal violence proposition that focuses on collective violence—that between a political regime and some opposing group. A political regime's domestic democide in general and its genocide in particular can be predicted to the degree that Power is indiscriminate and irresponsible. Power is the means through which a regime can accomplish its goals or whims. The more power a regime has, the more it can act arbitrarily according to the whims and desires of the elite, the more it will make war on others and murder its foreign and domestic subjects. The more constrained the power of regimes, the more it is diffused, checked and balanced, the less it will aggress on others and commit democide.
