ABSTRACT
This chapter is about ways in which models of relational form can be used to describe the substantive contents of personal relationships. Kinds of interaction are viewed as components in the sentences that people use to describe their relationships with one another. These components are distinguished and interpreted with respect to semantic criteria derived from the structure of the circumstances in which interaction occurs.
