ABSTRACT

On April 11, 1968, the following story appeared in the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

Despite the announced cancellation, the rally was held after all-without incident. Richard Zimmerman, the reporter who covered the story for the Plain Dealer, noted that there was virtually no violence, except for a minor scuffle in front of a flagpole and a fight between two dogs. Since so much had been made of so little, Zimmerman wrote facetiously: “The mongrel appeared to be an outside agitator, while the Doberman was kept under control by what appeared to be a bona fide student.”
