This consideration of the sociologists of education—disproving Gillie’s final allegation that Burt “underrated the importance of social factors”—brings to a close our cross-examination of the witnesses for the prosecution: the testimony of those who had made, and then greatly extended, the charges of “fraud” against Burt.
