ABSTRACT
Here, in the midst of the massive temples of the world’s most powerful democracy, we exist as a tiny enclave of encounter, a community of learning, a company of scholars accessible to everyone, a recipient of the nation’s treasure, custodian of its past, and guardian, we venture to hope, of a legacy for its future.
