ABSTRACT

Marxists have long ignored warnings in the face of the fact that unitary prejudices have greatly contributed to the decline of their doctrine. To speak of unity in economic society is to focus discussions on the heads of production, while revolutionary socialism claims to be concerned only with the hands of production. In the great revolutionary epochs, the great requisitions made to secure the manufacture of military equipment, transportation, and agriculture did not always produce brilliant results; gigantic efforts often led to deplorable setbacks. Sociologists are boastful of their science and highly desirous of despoiling industrialists of most of their profits, in order to improve the conditions of their friends. The basic relations of democracy and modern industry are dominated by this consideration: democracy can claim a large role in the formation of present attitudes of science toward matter.
