ABSTRACT

The magic of the incantation "once upon a time" has coaxed into Dreamland many a toddler determined to defy the ridiculous insistence of adults on going to sleep just as goblins are ready to play tricks. Fortunately, prodded even a little, the soul readily responds to the magic of myth. Sacred myth satisfies the psyche as no empirical hypothesis, which resorts to nothing but hard data, ever could. The science of the mind, which happens to be the literal meaning of "psychology" –is in fact not so much science as art. Often depicted in art as a man wearing the Double Crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, Atum is the first living human god conceived of by the ancient Egyptians. The implication that male and female adam were both created in God's image seems incontestable. The Quran specifically states that men and women have no preeminence in birth and their work is appreciated equally.
