ABSTRACT

The main difference between a class presented in a psychology or counseling program and a class presented in a human experience specialist program would be that the class in the human experience specialist program would provide meta-analysis of the subject matter presented. Of course, a human experience specialist would need to know the labels, since the world uses them, and it would be silly not to be able to find useful information because mental health professionals didn’t know the lingo. The human experience specialist that picturing as the mental health helper of the future would know the lingo and would know about the special challenges with which “an anorexic” or “an alcoholic” is likely to be grappling. There might be some sort of abbreviated training program for therapists and other mental health professionals who want to be released from the grip of the medical model and the constraints of doing “psychology”.
