ABSTRACT

Freud dreamt about spinach, Shaw wrote about spiders and lionesses, and Iiro talked about ducks and shoes. Symbols all. Objects all. Shoes and spiders and spinach are the stuff of reality but also functions within the symbolic worlds that Iiro and Shaw and Freud inhabited. As fish know the world as sea, we humans swim in symbols that we both live in and wonder about. They are us and we are them, yet we make and unmake them. How?
