ABSTRACT

To better enhance the experimental rigor of our research program to date we generally have studied each of our speech variables in isolation rather than attempt to experimentally vary two of these variables at one time. We have, nevertheless, from time to time examined the effect on a second variable of changes (naturally occurring or planned) in another variable, and even have planned a new series of studies designed to experimentally vary two variables concurrently. Examples of such studies are shown at the bottom of Figures 4.9 and 4.10. Since these studies are continuing, no further presentation will be made here of our preliminary findings.
