ABSTRACT
Robert Hare, a psychologist, describes specific traits of personality of such devious people. Among the outstanding attributes are a display of an exaggerated sense of self-worth, shallow affect, irresponsibility, impulsivity, pathological lying, conning, phony charm, and lack of remorse and empathy. It is a fact of political life that many politicians display a psycho-pathically tainted behavior. With the distinction between true and false less defined, some politicians abuse their position of power and blatantly manipulate the public. A special category of politicians and social activists who present subtle psychopathic traits but appear behaving normally are in reality opportunistic, nonconformist, and demagogic leaders. People are faced with a most serious problem in dealing with the big lies of the alleged political and social reformers who have periodically reached for power in the name of social justice and equality for the masses.
