MonsoonAsiaisthesouthernandeasternpartofAsia,includingIndia, PakistanandCeylon;ChinaandJapan;andallthepeninsulasandislands ofthesouth-eastasfarasNewGuineaandthePhilippines.Butitismore thananareaoflandoranassemblageofcountries.Itisageographical region.Tobeacceptableasageographicalregionanareamustsatisfythe followingconditions:
I-howeverstrikingthediversityofthephysicalsettingandthe languages,religionsandgeneralappearanceofthepeople,there mustbesomeaspectofculture(forexample,thesocialoutlook ortheorganizationoftheeconomy)whichpervadestheareain suchawayastojustifytherecognitionandstudyofthatareaas oneentity;
2-theremustbesubstantialculturaldifferencesbetweenitand adjacentareas.
